A 2-year, non-renewable postdoctoral fellowship in Black European Studies is being offered by the Department of Modern Languages at Carnegie Mellon University in collaboration with the Center for Black European Studies and the Atlantic. The study of culture and identities in one of the languages the department offers, such as French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Russian, or Arabic, is encouraged for academics with a strong interest in the field. The candidate must have a transdisciplinary understanding of race within the global Atlantic and its intersection with environmental and health studies, women’s and gender studies, urban studies, technology, data, performance, religion, and citizenship. This scholarship is for PhD students.

  •  Scholars are those who received or will receive their Ph.D. between August 30, 2018, and August 30, 2023.

The Carnegie Scholarship is open to all qualified citizens and permanent residents of the United States. The FAFSA and CSS Profile must be completed by candidates in order to be considered; however, students are not required to complete a separate application process for the Carnegie Scholarship.
