• Job title: Consolidations Accounting Analyst

Job Over View:
This position reports to the Consolidations, Reporting & Governance Supervisor within the Controllers Organization and will be involved primarily with the Consolidation function.  The Consolidation group facilitates the monthly consolidation process and is responsible to oversee the integrity of the consolidated financial statements.  The Consolidation group also provides a monthly analysis of the business activity to executive management.  This position is highly dependent on the ability to interact with data from our SAP system and Business Warehouse to perform the data review and analysis.
The position will interface regularly with Executive Management, Accounting, Policy, External Reporting and Auditing. The analyst will need to demonstrate strong communication skills, collaboration and a high level of initiative to realize department deliverables and goals within aggressive deadlines.


• Candidate Duties/Responsible
Monitor the close process and ensure that manual clearing done by the business and eliminations performed by the consolidation system are completed correctly.
Serve as a consultant to Accounting to ensure that transactions are structured correctly for appropriate presentation on the consolidated financial statements.
Review consolidated financial statements for correct presentation in accordance with internal and external regulations making top side entries and cash flow re-classes when necessary
Have primary ownership of the Late Entry system.  This entails communicating the aggregate impact of late entries as they are received, posting them into the system and reviewing late entries with senior management.
Analyze monthly consolidated activity and provide a detailed review of the activity to executive management.
Ensure compliance with various controls related to the consolidation function.
Serve as a key point of contact with Marathon’s audit partner to answer questions and provide information related to our consolidation process and consolidated financial statements.
Provide support for other functions under the Controller’s Organization such as assisting the external financial reporting group in the preparation of the 10Q's and 10K's.
Responsible for timely completion of various Government reporting requirements.
• Qualifications For This Position.
Degree: Bachelors Required & CPA or MBA preferred
preferably: Accounting/Finance
Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience in financial accounting & reporting preferred.  A strong proficiency in Excel, SAP R3 and SAP Business Warehouse (Analysis for Excel) a plus.  A strong understanding of GAAP requirements as it relates to consolidated financial statements is also a plus.
